Becoming a better marksman...period

Shooting Saturday...is that a thing? Well, it is now!

Nice to get a couple hundred more arrows through my Obsession Bows Def-Con M7. This bow shoots like buttah. Now it's not a matter of "can I" hit a bullseye, it's now "how perfect/how many times" can I hit a bullseye. As anyone who plays golf can attest...once you hit that perfect shot, you spend the rest of your life trying to do it again...archery is the exact same thing.

It's so gratifying to see the progress I've made in a couple months of shooting and I will admit that there's not a shot I don't think I can make with this bow. I've shot through chairs and was doing "keyhole shot" stuff today. I can't wait to start competing and hunting with this rig.

Star Wars and John Wick collide!

I never understood why in a galaxy far, far away...those damn storm troopers couldn't hit anything! Not the case if I was one.

Got a chance to shoot the new SigSauer P320 in 9mm tonight. I know it's that talk of the town being selected as the Army's new gun...but I just don't dig it. I'll take my P229 ANY day. Speaking of, my 229 performed perfectly with off the hip draw-5 rounds shots at 5 spot targets with magazine changes at 40 feet. I'm working on getting faster with accuracy so I do better at my next indoor steel competition. Then it was onto 2 round engagements (heart/head) with magazine changes at 15 and then 25 feet. A lil John Wick-like shooting drills to change things up a bit tonight. Finally started to click and was getting a consistent 1-2 punch...so to speak.

Just because its snowing doenst mean you can't shoot

Most every thing was closed today because of the snow/snow cleanup to include my gun range...but the archery range wasn't...and then this happens. Say hello to my new Obsession Bows M7.

Granted I've only been back to archery for a few months and the Mission Craze I was shooting was nice but, this...bow...is...wicked!!! Just a few minutes to dial it in, then shooting x's draw after draw. Probably shot around 60 arrows after it was all set up and the difference is like night and day. THIS is a bow that I can compete with in/outdoors and then take in the woods for hunting. Not to mention, that color scheme is spot on! I mean who doesn't love red and black?! Thanks to Archeryplus Shooter for squaring me away!

How can you not see John Wick 2 and be inspired?!

Friday night...go see John Wick Chapter 2, be astounded, get excited and motivated as all hell (no for real, that movie was AWESOME!!!) and then head to the range.

I burned through 200 rounds of 9mm a lot faster than I ever have. Haha! Focusing more on defensive shooting I spent the range time shooting off the hip with my SigSauer P229 and from appendix carry SigSauer P938 (with 5 round magazines and mag changes to stay sharp) at 15, 25 and 30 ft. The goal being to get solidly on center mass to engage shoot with the first and then follow up rounds, then do the same with quick mag changes. By the end of the session I was consistently on target. Not too bad at. I may have to watch John Wick movies before every trip to the range.

Well, that's one competition under my belt

I was a little anxious to say the least. A friend invited me to an indoor pistol-steel shoot. Its been forever since I've shot in a competition and I've never shot steel indoors. Don't let the picture fool ya, it was a lot harder than it looks!

The shoot was 5 steel circles with 3 steel "poppers'. You not only shoot against the timer but also head to head with another shooter. Just shooting against the clock at 40ft targets can be a little nerve racking but having to do it against another person in order to advance ...ya, that was a whole new ballgame...ESPECIALLY when you can hear them "dinging" targets faster than you. No to mention there were some serious pistoleers shooting with modded or competition quality guns and I was shooting my stick SigSauer P229 Nitron. I forced myself to have no preconceived notions of doing well, instead I focused on the experience to learn how the shoot works and understand the mechanics of it all. Needless to say, after five rounds I learned ALOT! One round I put a total of ten rounds (shooting left to right all five targets and then going back again to trying to knock them down) without a single "hit" only to be told by the referee that all my shots were perfect center...just low off the plate. Ooph. Well, I had a grteat time, learned a lot and by the end of the evening was able to knock down 5 target with 5 rounds...just not as fast as the guy beside me. I'm looking forward to doing this again next month!

A competition tomorrow, so range prep it is!

When you have a competition tomorrow...you throw on a pair of Ironman pants, spend time breaking down and cleaning your guns, load magazines, ammo boxes and prep the range bag

Diversify your weapon portfolio

Great day on the range! These new @nockturnalnocks are helping dial in my bow setup. Even picked up a new @trufirereleases Hardcore 4 finger release and I went from good...to great. This Mission Craze bow is finally starting to shoot like buttah now!
